Question 7

Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

When creating my magazine and competing this project I used a selection of programs. When creating the magazine itself I used adobe photoshop and Indesign. I used photoshop to edit the photos that I took with my digital camera then once I’d finished editing the images I added them to Indesign where I creating my magazine.
When I was editing my pictures in photoshop I didn’t learn anything new because I already knew how to use the software, however when it came to using Indesign I was clueless on how to use the program. It was something that was unknown to me and took some getting used to, for me using photoshop to create the magazine would have been a lot easier because it was a program that I was familiar with using it.
When filming all my audience feedbacks and I used a program on the mac called photobooth, this allowed me to film a group of people and then instantly upload if onto my blog. For storing all the coursework I used a online website called blogger. This was a simply site to use as you just wrote up what you wanted to add to the blog and once you were ready you could post it.
For my Question 5 I used my Iphone to record myself and they used sony vegas pro 11 to edit the video.  When showing some of the other evaluation questions and some of the research I use an online powerpoint program called slideshare

Question 5

Question 4

4) Who would be the audience for your media product

For my magazine I said that they target audience would be ages 16-23 both males and females, this is because I believe that this ages rage would be more interested in the new unsigned bands because when you are in your teens there is a lot of kids creating their own bands with friends and  by seeing a magazine dedicated to the unsigned bands will encourage the teens into wanting to be in the magazine. For the target audience of my product they would be in the Demographics groups B and D ( School, College to University) o a annual income between £7,000 to £17,000 and giving them a disposable income of £500 -  £800, this means that my target group would have enough income so that they will be able to by my magazine. The media interests for my magazine would be going to festivals and interested in gadgets and films. This would mean that they are interested in getting my magazine as it will tell them all the latest information about past and current festivals so that they can see whither bands they are interested in will buy the magazine.
The buying habits for the audience of my magazine would be focused around music with Apple Ipods and the latest gadgests as teen ages always want to keep up to date with the newest trends. They would also have a fun style of life and be prepared to take risks to get where they want to be wither this is within the music industry or to help them achieve their life goal.

Question 3

3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I believe that Bauer Media could advertise Undiscovered as ones of its brands because It already has ownership of Kerrang, 4music, magic and more music channels and magazines. They have 92 institutions in which they already advertise. I believe that with my magazine I could bring a new and younger audience as its focuses on the forgotten unsigned bands trying to make it.
my magazine would follow the trend of Kerrang and do a “Undiscovered tour” featuring some of the most well know unsigned bands to help get them noticed. I’d hope that with the magazine and the tour that unsigned bands would get noticed and the apparition that they deserve.

Question 2

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine features mainly teenagers and young adults from ages 16-23.  16-23 year olds are frequently represented in the media in a negative light – for example in relation to crime, bad driving skills and unemployment. My magazine challenges this as I am showing that these young people are doing something worthwhile and inspiring in making music.
My target audience is for both male and female, I represent men and woman as equal in my magazine in my magazine as the features are targeted neither specifically man or woman its for everyone.
The readers of my magazine may well belong to rock, goth, emo, scene and normal social groups.  I represent these social groups by having posters, articles and gig reviews to bands that are stereotypically linked to these social groups. I represent those social group in a positive way, by making it all about the music as opposed to the stereotypically negative things that may be associated to these groups. E.g. drinking and smoking.
